The finals of the Republic Cup in men’s volleyball for the year 1971, which were to be held in December, were postponed due to international activities and thus took place from February 23-27, 1972, in the “Partizani” Sports Palace “.

The best teams competed in these finals:
“Dinamo”, “Vllaznia”, “Partizani”, “Studenti”, “17 Nentori” and “Skenderbeu”.

The matches of this Cup start with the meeting “Skenderbeu” – “17 Nentori” which was won 3-2 by Tirana
(15;9 / 13;15 / 15;7 /4;15 / 15;8), after a strong game and beautiful. On the same day, the forces of “Partizani” and “Student” are measured. The match was of a satisfactory technical-tactical level and ended after four
sets 3-1 in the victory of “Partizan” (15;12 / 15;12 / 12;15 / 15;9).

The third meeting of the first day took place between “Dinamo” and “Vllaznise”. The game was expected to be strong, lively and beautiful. But it didn’t happen completely like that. Shkodrans started the game well, they had an advantage over the champions throughout the first set and won it 15-9. In the other sets, their game started to fade. Dynamo won three consecutive sets (15;13 / 15;11 /15;3) and the whole match 3-1.

On the second day, the meetings started with the challenge “Skenderbeu” – “Vllaznia” 1-3 (12;15 / 10;15 / 15;11 / 6;15) and continued with the match “Partizani” – “17 Nentori” which was even stronger and more balanced. It ended 3-1 for “Partizan” (16;14 / 15;11 / 15;17 / 16;14).

The sports battle became stronger and more interesting especially at the end of the sets, three of which ended with extended points. On this day, “Dinamo” won against “Skenderbeu” 3-0.

On the third day, the following results were achieved:
“Studenti” – “Skenderbeu” 3-0 (15;5 / 15;6 /15;10); “17Nentori” – “Vllaznia” 1-3 (15;6 / 8;15 / 7;15 / 12;15) and “Partizani” – “Dinamo” 3-0 (15;7 / 16;14 / 15;8 )

This match was even the most beautiful, “Partizani” started the game quite well and had superiority in all directions. He easily won the first set. In the second, the sports rivalry was greater, but even this “Partizan” volleyball players ended their victory with extended points. The third set had the same features as the first and was won again by “Partizani”. This meeting was decisive to determine the winner of the Cup.

The penultimate day opened with the meeting “17 Nentori” – “Studenti” 3-2 (8;15 / 15;6 / 7;15 / 15;12 / 17-15), after a balanced game and it took the set five to determine the winner.

“Partizani” held another meeting, this time with “Vllaznina”, which it won 3-1 (15;10 / 15;17 / 15;6 / 15;5).
This is how the winner of the Cup of the Republic for 1971 was finally decided. The meeting of this day between “Dinamo” and “Skenderbeu” ended 3-0.

Meanwhile, the 5th and final day of these finals gave the following results: “Dinamo” – “17Nentori 3-1 (15;4 / 14;16 / 15;10 / 17;15) “Partizani” – “Skenderbeu” 3- 0 (15;8 / 15;11 / 15;4). “Vllaznia” – “Studenti” 3-1 (15;11 /15;10 / 10-15 / 15-5).

At the end of all meetings this classification was achieved final 1. “Partizani” 2. “Dinamo” 3. “Vllaznia” 4. “November 17” 5. “Student” 6. “Skenderbeu”

The matches of this Cup took place with a good sporting level. The claims of “Dinamo” and “Vllaznia” this time were opposed more successfully by “Partizani” who deserved the Cup. “17 Nentori”, “Skenderbeu” and “Studenti”, although on a smaller scale, fought in a satisfying way to take the best possible place.

The trainers activated the new element, which, in turn, justified itself. “Partizani” won all the matches. He was the protagonist of the strongest and most beautiful matches, such as those against “Dinamo” and “Vllaznisa”, the holder of the Cup for 1970. Trained by the trainer, master of sports Andon Kona, he demonstrated a very good preparation in all in all game indicators. Among the volleyball players who stood out the most, we can mention Fagu and Borov.

The team implemented well the attack with three shooters and in defense the middle system pulled back. “Dinamo” played weak matches. Apparently, the team was not prepared and showed signs of fatigue. On the other hand, he could have been guided by the thought that he could not find opponents who would face him, which he did not really answer. “Vllaznia”, with an average height higher than the others, had to try harder. The physical preparation, the technical element of catching the first ball, processing the pass, as well as the tactical concept of the game in general, left much to be desired. “17 Nentori” and “Studenti” within their possibilities gave the maximum and distinguished themselves by activating the new element. The same cannot be said for “Skenderbeu” of Korce, which completely lacked reserves, a fact that should seriously concern the club leaders.
