Sabah Bizi
Footballer of the Albanian football champion clubs, Vllaznia and Partizani!
One of the basic players and even the captain of the Albanian national team! Honored with the Medal of Merit (2003)

Born in Shkoder on November 13, 1946. One of the greatest talents of Albanian football, Sabah Bizi, is one of those footballers who are born only once. At Vllaznia, where he began his long journey as a footballer, he was everything in its formation and likewise in the National Team.

He only played 13 games with the national team, simply because of the interruption of its participation in the 1970s, but in all cases he is the engine of the game. Without exaggeration, it can be said that Bizi is the most versatile footballer in the history of Albanian football. With the role of midfielder, he brought the modern features of this position to the field, becoming in many matches the player who led an entire team.

Equipped with a rational, millimetric technique, a range of movement across the field like no other, with an unerring pass, an organizer of European proportions, a simultaneous blocker, an accurate shooter through unforgettable goals, Bizi was the one who would face even greater duels of the caliber of a Beckenbauer, Prohaska, Dejna.

He became thanks to his authority even the captain of the National Team. Four times champion of Albania with Vllaznia, but also with Partizan, Sabah Bizi, the unattainable midfielder in Albanian football. At the same time, Bizi could be a center forward, a wing forward, a full-back, and a “free”, with which he ended his career after a surprising interpretation at the age of 35.

Balkan Champion with Partizan, Bizi is the protagonist of the great challenges against FRG in 1967 and in the 70s against Turin, Advidaberg. From this year 1965 until 1982 when Sabah Bizi leaves, Vllaznia e Shkodra is 3 times Champion of Albania.

But what is important, in Sabah Biz’s 13 championships with Vllaznia, overall, she is the winner of the Republic Cup 4 times, runner-up 1 time, and 3rd place 5 times. From 1965 to 1982, it is a galloping journey of Sabah Biz in three decades of football, in 18 years without interruption, in 16 national championships, Sabah Biz’s Shkodra era had just begun.

Ramazan Rragami was still playing for Partizan and Medin Zhega for Dinamo. It took another 2-3 years for them to return and form the great trio of Shkodra and Albania: Rragami-Zhega-Bizi.
The Albanian Champion passed away on January 16, 2025
