Robert Jashari (1938-2022)
Prominent national and Partizan football player of the 1950s-1960s, as well as trainer of several second-tier teams.

He was born on February 2 in Tirana. He is part of the elite of the most distinguished Albanian players.

Jashari was one of the most outstanding players of the Partizan team, where he was declared the best scorer of the championship three times in 1963 (18 goals), 1964 (9 goals), 1965 (14 goals) and six times winner of the championship title. with Partizan in the period 1957-1964.

Jashari was raised as an orphan by his father who left him at the age of 3. The son of a family educated in the West, with a father who graduated in Rome, but who soon left him an orphan: he suddenly passed away, leaving two sons: Maksim and 3-year-old Robert. The mother, originally from Shkodra, remarried an Italian left after the war, with whom Marion, the third brother, was born.

The Italian, with the desire to return home, asked his wife to leave Albania together. But, from the criteria applied by the Albanian state for foreigners, only Mario could run away with them. In order not to leave the three children separated, she decided to stay and sacrifice unmarried in Albania, while her husband left for Italy, never to meet again. This is how Robert Jashari’s life begins in the Children’s Home and dormitory.

Only with one shirt, the red one of Partizan. It starts with the youth, continuing with “Spartacus” in the Second Category, to finally connect them with Partizan in 1956, a transfer that was carried out in the framework of the mobilization to perform military service and, after this moment until the moment when he left football, his life, his sports career is only with this club, as a football player and coach. From Rexhep Spahiu, Boriçi, Resmja, Pano, Papadhopulli, Ndini, Kraja, Shllaku, Haxhiu, Deliallisi, Merja, Maliqati, Mikel Janku, many others, are an integral part of it. Niko Bespalla was “a little more of a friend”, especially when he played with Partizan. He is the footballer who, like no one else, has the start of his career connected to a detail. In the Partizan team at the age of 18, he replaced the icon of this sport, the Grand Master Loro Borici, in the attacking line from 1956 when he played the matches the last one as a footballer, playing alongside other famous players in the red team such as Refik Resmja and Panajot Pano.

In 1968, he suddenly abandoned football because his name was not included in the Partizan lineup that was supposed to play against Torino in the second match of the Cup of Cups of the 1968-1969 season scheduled to take place in Italy.

With Partizan, he was also the winner of the Cup of the Republic several times and his excellent values made Jashari join the Albanian national team, which he will make his debut in June 1963 in the qualifying matches for the Olympic Games against Bulgaria played in Tyrants.

Then he selected only 7 matches with the Red and Black team. His last match was in May 1965 in the qualifying matches for the World Cup against Northern Ireland, even scoring a very nice goal. In the position of coach Robert Jashari, in 1981 he achieved the first success in the history of the 31 July team by sending this team to the first category.

In the late 1950s and 1960s, he also graduated as a coach with Category II, training the team of pioneers of the Palace of Pioneers, from which Gani Xhafa, Skënder Hyka, but also Medin Zhega started their careers. He coached the Red Star, Apolonia, Butrinti, Dajti and Katrioti teams, always in Category II. He was also the technical director of Partizan.
