(HISTORY IN PHOTOS) FIRST OLYMPIC GAMES | 1896 ATHENS!
The first Olympic Games were held in Athens in 1896 from April 6 to 15. 14 countries participated and the number of athletes participating in this Olympics from these countries was 200, all men. Women do not participate. Athletes competed in 43 competitions from 9 sports in the program of these games.
The American team ranked first with 11 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze medals. The best athlete of the Olympics was the gymnast and wrestler from Germany: Carl Schummann with four gold medals. Below is a photo gallery as well as the official results tab:
