This is where the career rising point begins, while Müller made his deputation with FRG in October 1966 against Turkey. Soon after, he will be inseparable from the basic formation of “Manshaft”.

Gerd Muller was the player who had a very special talent for scoring, a sense of smell like no other in front of the goal like a “bird of prey”. All the goals he scored can be proven by the fact that they were scored inside the penalty area or with a penalty and almost most of them came quite suddenly when you weren’t thinking. His style, kicks with both feet and with his head in different positions, with his back, diagonally, turning into a spin made Mueller score an incredible number of goals, a total of 68 of these in 62 appearances with the German national team. continuing on, there are 365 goals in 427 matches in the

Bundesliga, staggering numbers that have made him win the championship’s top scorer in 7 seasons.

Only two years later, in 1972, the title of the European champion comes when the Germans convincingly defeat BRS 3-0.

But the most glorious chapter for the “Bomber” will be written in 1974, when together with the FRG team it is declared World Champion. He did not emerge as the best scorer of the championship, but nevertheless with his goal in the final against Hollande, he played the main role in winning the world title. In the same year, Gerd “The Bomber” wins the first title of the Champions Cup with his club Bayern Munich.

He took part in all three of Bayern’s successes during this time. Later, Mueller will move to America in the late 70s, for a new challenge. He retired from football in 1982. After he finished his career, he had quite a few problems with alcohol and from where he was often helped by his friends, especially by the legendary German captain Franz Beckenbauer, offering him a place in the Bayern staff!!
