Basketball player Diana Shoshkic, champion “meteor” of the 70s!
Diana Shoshkic is one of the examples when sport and art have milestones in their path.
She was a well-known basketball player of the 17 Nentori team of Tirana in the 70s. A distinguished sportswoman, but unfortunately her career was not long, similar to the path of a “meteor”, whose light is strong even though transient. As can be seen from the last name, her origin from her father, whose name was Dobrillo, is from Montenegro. She also performed as an actress in the television series “The Third”, a small role of the basketball player girl (also in the film) of “Trajan” (Lec Bushati).
She was born in Shijak. The daughter of an immigrant from Montenegro, who had left there since 1948. Her mother, Shpresa, was an Albanian from Shijak with the profession of a teacher. Maybe she inherited the sport from her mother, as a former volleyball player of “Erzen’s” girls.
Not even 16 years old, very young in age, she was unknown in the sport of basketball in the early 70’s when she was identified as a player with good technical elements in dribbling, organization and game vision.
She quickly climbed the career ladder in a few years, was called up with the National Team, became known for her style and concept for the game. The fact that he has a rare last name, Shoshkic, is also interesting.
With the number 11 with the “17 Nentori” jerseys like Simonovic’s, she managed to attract the attention of the directors who cast her as an actress in the film “The Third” in 1977, still a student at the “Qemal Stafe” high school.
In 1956, the Dobrillo couple and Shpresa Shoshkic` move to Tirana after his father won a scholarship to the Faculty of Economics. Set up first in Shallvare and then in the new “21 December” buildings.
The family consisted of 5 members, the son Slavenko, and the daughters Diana and Snezhana. In addition to basketball, she was a chess champion for her age in the school championship in Tirana, she stood out in athletics, first in the javelin, high jump, table tennis, etc.
It was finally cut from basketball many times in 1979.
