A controversial legend who redefined football.
The downfall man who would have been Fifa king.

The snowflakes gently fell onto the worn stone streets of Joeuf, casting a serene silence over the humble town in northeastern France. It was a far cry from the frenzied stadiums and flashing cameras that would soon come to define Michel Platini’s life. Yet, on this quiet winter’s day in 1955, a legend was born.

In a small, cozy apartment, a young Michel Platini watched in awe as his father, Aldo, relived the magic of Italian football on their grainy television. The images of Giacinto Facchetti and Sandro Mazzola dancing with the ball ignited a spark within the boy. Little did he know, this spark would soon become an unquenchable flame, propelling him to become one of the greatest footballers of all time.

As Platini’s eyes widened with wonder, his father whispered stories of the game’s rich history and the artistry of its greatest players. In that moment, a dream took shape. Platini would not only master the beautiful game but redefine it. The stage was set for a journey that would take him from the coal miners’ fields of Lorraine to the pinnacle of European football, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.

His full name is Michel François Platini. Born on June 1, 1955, in Jeouff, remains one of the most outstanding players in the world.

The French midfielder had a vision of the game like no other player, the organizer and captain of “Les Bleus” led the national team to win the European Cup in 1984. Together with Tigana, Giresse and Fernandes, he created an incomparable class midfield.

Platini becomes the tournament’s top scorer with 9 goals scored. One of Michel Platini’s qualities was his ability to score from free kicks and also from penalty kicks, until 1986 when he lost the first of his career against Brazil.

He began his professional football career with AS Nancy in 1972. Platini is a three-time winner of the “Ballon d’Or” while playing in Italy with Juventus.

In the World Cup he could not go further than the semi-finals. The unforgettable challenge in 1982 against West Germany (3-3).

He retired from football in 1987 at the age of 32, ending with 312 goals in 580 club matches, while reaching a record of 41 goals scored in 79 international matches with France.

Later Platini wrote a book entirely about his football career, entitled “My Life as a Football Match”. Platini later became a coach and held various positions at UEFA, eventually becoming president (2007-2016).

The emergence of the payment also led to Blatter ending his reign as Fifa president in disgrace, while Platini lost his job as president of Uefa, the European governing body, after his ban.
Judges on FIFA’s ethics committee subsequently banned both men from football.
