Ajax the football machine of the 70s, who experienced the team and wasn’t fascinated?

Writing about such a great team is not only a responsibility, even though you can share a lot of information with the public, you still feel that something is missing. So great are the dimensions of this team that has remained in the annals of world football, where the profile of this football machine of the brand “Made in Amsterdam” cannot be perfected and complete!
Appointed in 1965, coach Rinus Michels transformed Ajax from relegation candidates in the Netherlands to the best side in Europe, his ‘Total Football’ system making household names of the likes of Johan Neeskens, Piet Keizer, Sjaak Swart, Wim Suurbier, Barry Hulshoff, Gerrie Mühren, Johnny Rep, Ruud Krol, Velibor Vasović and, of course, Dutch football’s favourite son Johan Cruyff.
The 1970s was a magical era for Dutch football, and Johan Cruyff’s Ajax team was the crowning jewel.
This phenomenal squad, led by the visionary coach Rinus Michels and starring the incomparable Johan Cruyff, achieved unprecedented success, redefining the beautiful game.
Regarded by many as the greatest club team of all time, Ajax’s dominance was awe-inspiring. They won a staggering three consecutive European Cups (1971-1973), an achievement that remains unmatched.
Their thrilling brand of “Total Football” – a fluid, attacking style that emphasized creativity, flexibility, and individual expression – captivated audiences worldwide.
During this halcyon period, Ajax amassed an incredible array of trophies, including six Dutch Eredivisie titles, four KNVB Cups, and the 1972 Intercontinental Cup.
