Dražen Petrović was a Croatian, great professional basketball player.
He was a shooting guard, initially achieved success playing professional basketball in Europe in the 1980s with “Cibona” and “Real” Madrid..

Looking back, we miss those winter evenings when we secretly followed Euro Cups and “Cibona” basketboll croatian team above all, when stood out, a player named Drazhen Petrovic.

That young boy, so elegant so virtuoso, just like Mozart. That’s exactly why he got the nickname “Moxart of basketball”.

It went quite unfortunately and unfairly!

Only 28 years old! Drazhen Petrovic won a mountain of titles in his career with Yugoslavia, Croatia, Šibenik, Cibona and Real Madrid. One of the first (Nikos Galis is an exception here) European players to cross the Atlantic and play successfully in the NBA, first for the “New Jersey Nets” and then for the “Portland Trail Blazers”. With the latter in 1990, he reached the playoffs.

Today it is regarded as the central link of today’s flow of European players in the NBA!

No one enjoyed such absolute respect anywhere in Europe. At the FIBA EuroBasket finals in 2013 in Slovenia, Drazhen Petrović was voted by the players as the best European basketball player in history!
